I've always been a huge fan of the Mana games, ever since Final Fantasy Adventure (LOL renames for $$) on the Gameboy.
Recently, Children of Mana was released on the Nintendo DS earlier this year, and a date has yet to be announced for Dawn of Mana (Multi Platform). The thing is, is that thier US and European release was under question.
Gamespot, however, has upped some rather interesting screenshots of both games this past week. These screenshots aren't of anything particularly amazing, just some dialogue. But the dialogue is in English. Even for DoM, which still has no release date (Dual simultaneous releases? :o )
Could this mean that one of my all time favorite series' two most recent installments be coming over to the US and Europe? I would hope so.
Anyhoo, this is meant to be a general Mana thread. Post fond (or not so fond) memories of getting up to the final boss in Secret of Mana before school, only to leave the game paused while at school and come back to whoop his mana-y ass upon returning home. And hopefully any interesting tidbits of news on the newer games.

I hope the new Seiken Densetsu games are actually GOOD this time around. I'm tired of seeing the series that brought about Secret of Mana and never-ported (but played anyways, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!) Seiken Densetsu 3 games that I love so much get so horribly.... violated!
Are these latest ones multiplayer? I think I heard they were but I forget.
Current SD memory: Not knowing that stupid merchant cat is selling new armour that's RIDICIULOUSLY better than your current armour and getting butt kicked multiple times in the mana forest due to that, constantly relying on BARRELS to go through the entire dungeoun up until the first boss (snake boss) that would promptly kill all of us in about 30 seconds, then reloading from the last save and doing it again! And again! And again! Until the day I was sick at home while my brothers were at school so while killing time I found that stupid cat.

Children of Mana is apparently not much better than Sword of Mana. I liked Sword though, so I'll give this one a look. The multiplayer is supposed to be cool in a Diablo kind of way.
Also, Evermore > SD3.

From wht I remember, Children of Mana has a big multiplayer aspect. DoM I'm not really sure.

I really enjoyed Legend of Mana. The way I saw it, it was basically like a collection of interconnected short stories. It didn't need a unified plot if that's what they were going for.
Secret of Mana is one of my all-time favorite SNES games. I liked Seiken Densetsu 3, but it got incredibly difficult near the end.
As for Dawn of Mana in English, I saw those screenshots, too. Intriguing.

I'd have liked Legend of Mana if the weapon's forging system was a bit kinder. Getting all those ingredients together was hell. But the story I DID like, for a non-linear plot. When I start redirecting cash flow, I'll give the other Manas a looksee.

Ah, yes, the best resourse I've ever seen for all of those nifty stats from LoM that they "Neglected" to give us in the US strategy guide. I don't know what kind of guide was out in Europe, but I hope it was better than the one we got (All ours has was a basic walkthrough for each quest, Shitty equipment lists (Not of anything unique, just the base stats of what could be forged), NO skill list (Which was promised earlier in the book), no information on hidden stats like orchard growth rates, tempering guides, or anything that you would buy the guide for).
Anyway, here's the resource (http://www.geocities.com/xo_pitseleh/lom.html). Taken from the obviously way superior Japanese guide.
EDIT: I also have each of the pages of info saved as *.doc files in my hub share, just in case this site ever goes down (Which I doubt will be likely, seeing as it's been up since like 2001, even though it's for a game that is basically done with).
