"It's also given me a new-found respect for the game, which I've been playing every day for the past week or so now. On the Dreamcast."

Heh, you laugh, but it was Neil's review of CVS1 that first brought me to HerV. And though he didn't really like it all that much, I could still tell it was a fair review.

>:-(

100% plz.

I was just laughing at the fact that the PS1 just didn't do good enough to beat the DC... and CvS on the DC brought me back into fighting games, so I can't badmouth it.

Well, really - was anyone actually expecting it to? It's a good enough effort, but I don't believe in miracles....

There are two CvS Pro reviews on the front page, and both lead to different addresses, yet only one works. Whassup wit dat?

This is graphically horrifying. The man-on-fire looks like something out of a Mortal Kombat GBA port.

So, Holden, is that new sig just part of an ongoing theme, or did someone actually attempt to classify SSBM as a deep, technical fighter?

Holden
20th July 2002, 04:26 PM
It's there specifically to piss Ultima off, yes.

Does this have anything to do with the "defense mechanisms" thread? :supergrin

(I'd check myself, but I don't feel like slogging through that monstrosity.)

Holden

Yes.

I'll run it down for you here: He says Super Smash Brothers is a deep technical fighter. I laugh at him. He calls me ignorant. I laugh harder. He gives me tier listings; I am on the floor, face bright blue, dead as a doornail.

Good review. I liked all the little details that Neil picks up on.

Hmm... probably only worth a rental, then. At least at first.

You can pretty much guarantee Holden will get a new sig after every big 'high-level' skirmish. :D

I entered the first one, using a "review - " prefix ... when it came up I realised that the uploader adds that automatically, so I went into the admin panel to delete it, and it wasn't there. So I just gritted my teeth and reposted it.

Red should fix it, sometime. Hopefully.

Is the loading time still FUBAR? I'm too lazy to go read your review. :trannie

I think I prefer Guilty Gear fights. Nobody cares enough about GGX to twist their dick into a knot over it, and while it has what you could call "rabid fans," it doesn't have what you could call "face-eatingly insane cultists."

So where's the sprite rips? :B

When you look at that man on fire, it looks like a hula-girl drawn in the Matt Groening/Simpsons style.

EvilNeil, you said that this game comes out for the U.S. 3 weeks later than the European version.

Is that true? I've been searching and I can't find any U.S. release dates. :(

A quick check of GameFags (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/data/14962.html) (ool etc.) shows the release date for the US version at 8/16/2002, roughly 4 and a half weeks later.

Whoops. I thought that mean N/A...

EvilNeil

Yeah, if there's no solid data, they'll have the date as "confirmed" - and if there's not even that then it just won't be mentioned.

I think PSX CvSPro was only good for getting echoless KO voices (and Cammy's voice, I guess), and not much else.

God I really enjoyed CvS for the DC. Somehow I STILL have a copy of PRO but no recollection whatsoever of where my DC or my CvS disappeared to.

Ultima

CvS Pro was good only if you liked really powerful ratio 3 bosses. Rugal was at his absolute best in that game.

Also LOLing at Holden being wrong (as usual) on the first page, re: Smash Bros.

Otomo Tenzi

...How long did spend playin' dis game, Ultima??!!! :shy2:

Me 'n some friendz spent like maybe 6 hourz tryin' out dis game befer we pulled out da disc (powered by Memorex) 'n stomped onnit...

Ultima

Two months IIRC. Maj and I are the only ones who played it.

Nezumiiro

Played it last night, just to remind myself that there is a gaming hell. I wonder if someday, horrible fighting games will become some form of secret currency. (Toshinden discs are like $100 dollar bills.)
